Painter, designer, forest school teacher
Alis’ childhood consisted of unstructured art and tinkering, with unlimited outdoor play. Alis further honed her drawing skills, earning a BFA in Industrial Design from RISD. Post college Alis pursued a career in information design that spanned 25 years. In 2019 Alis transitioned to a more tactile life, trading digital work for paint on canvas. Alis’ refocused her expertise in experience design to nature based learning, where she teaches early childhood education in a forest school setting. Being present and playing with children in nature inspires the creativity, imagination and playfulness in her work . Alis enjoys plein air painting, both solo and at artist meetups. Alis is best known for her paintings depicting the trees and landscapes of the Santa Cruz Mountains. When not in the studio, you can find Alis immersed in nature, often with a brush in hand.
